First Article Inspection (FAI)

Hexagon Metrology's knowledgeable staff is experienced in a wide range of metrology tools, including, but not limited to, ultra high precision CMMs, ROMER portable arms, and Laser scanning systems. This allows us to quickly, and more importantly, correctly, write PC-DMIS programs for part inspection.

Whether this is the first time material is provided, a full FAI, or this is a change in the design or manufacturing process, a partial FAI, we utilize our cutting-edge hardware and software to meet or exceed your stringent requirements

Our extensive aerospace experience allows us the ability to provide the inspection, verification, and documentation of the first production article.

We have developed custom report templates designed specifically for the Aerosospace industry such as an automated PC-DMIS routine that will generate an AS9102 report.

If you parts are too large for a CMM, we have other alternatives such as the LEICA TRACKER equipped with the T-SCAN or T-PROBE. These are a great solution for portable measurements and inspection.

When it comes to reporting, we are above the curve. We have a wide range of reporting tools at our disposal including Production Part Approval Process also known as PPAP's. Our software comes with many different reporting templates as well as the option to easily create your own custom reports.

Metrology has come a long way from digital calipers. Our precision centers are equipped with many different measuring tools. The technology we offer includes high magnification vision systems, White Light sensors, Laser scanners, Portable ROMER arms, and even large bridge CMMs. With all of these different technologies at our disposal, there is no job too big or too small for us to handle.

Fixture Qualification and Certification

Not only can we help you figure out how to fixture your parts to the CMM, we can help set up a calibration routine that will ensure your fixtures are properly holding your parts for the inspection process. When parts are not properly fixtured to the CMM, a carefully developed part program may generate useless results; let our experts help you devise the best method to hold your part on your CMM.

We have assisted customers in designing custom fixturing that will not only save inspection time but money as well.

For example, operations requiring large batches of parts to run can be be quite time consuming and costly. A significant amount of time and money can be saved through fixture qualification and certification. By retrieving the part alignment off a qualified fixture, you can simply remove each part after measuring and replace it with the next part.  This effectively eliminates the need for manual alignment portion of your part program.
