October 3, 2011 — North Kingstown, RI. — Hexagon Metrology Inc. and Hendrick Motorsports today announced a multi-year partnership agreement that makes Hexagon Metrology the Official Provider of Dimensional Metrology Products and Services to Hendrick Motorsports.

Hendrick Motorsports, winner of a record 10 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series championships, is a longtime user of Hexagon Metrology products for inspection and manufacturing of race car body, chassis and engine components. The official partnership -- the first between the two companies -- expands Hendrick Motorsports' in-house capabilities with multiple additional measuring systems, including ROMER Absolute Arms, GridLok portable measuring arm volume expansion systems, and Brown & Sharpe coordinate measuring machines.

"Hendrick Motorsports realized early on the value that precision metrology brings to the unique demands of NASCAR racing," said Angus Taylor, president and CEO of Hexagon Metrology Inc. "Our precision center in the Charlotte area worked extensively with the NASCAR Research and Development Center to develop the methodology to enforce COT (Car of Tomorrow) design rules and exacting standards for chassis design. Hendrick Motorsports was an early adopter of our technologies for two important tasks: to ensure the vehicles they design and build conform to their team's desired tolerances, and to ensure the race car and engine components put into competition meet Hendrick Motorsports standards."

Hexagon Metrology is the largest global provider of metrology products and value-added services, serving the needs of motor sports teams and industries worldwide.

"To have Hexagon Metrology support us in this new way is a big asset for Hendrick Motorsports," said Doug Duchardt, Hendrick Motorsports' vice president of development. "The manufacturing and assembly of race cars and race engines to tight tolerances is a demanding challenge. Hexagon's complete offering of metrology equipment, including Hexagon's ROMER Arm, have been significant contributors to our performance, repeatability and consistency from week to week."
